Volunteering
We are very ambitious at Pacifica — we are committed to providing the best quality humanistic education available for our kids, with the maximum possible input and involvement of our community of parents.
Delivering on our commitment requires a great deal of support from our internal and external communities. As a public charter school, we receive minimal resources to provide our programs, so we simply cannot exist without help from every possible resource. We have as many paid staff as we can afford, but not nearly enough to meet the demands of running our kind of school – and this is where parent participation makes all the difference.
Our teachers need support in our classrooms, and we ask our parents to provide it. This is a fundamental and critical aspect of parent participation, and helps us provide a high student-to-adult ratio in our classrooms.
Classroom participation is only one way that parents can meet their obligation to help support our school.
There is a wide variety of other meaningful ways in which parents can fulfill their commitment to participate, including many options that can be done from home or during off-hours. Among these is participation in the various committees and subcommittees of our Organization Council. Committee membership is a great way to ensure that your voice is heard in matters concerning the operation of the school, and is a rewarding way to contribute to our school’s success.
