Things You Should Know About Your Donation
- We have small classes and a small school. This personal and human scale is more expensive to maintain than the ordinary public school model, and more expensive than state funding provides for.
- California is one of the lowest per child in education funding – almost every other state spends more than we do. Texas gives its schools twice as much as California per student. And, we have to pay California rent! And if you’ve been following the news about our current budget crisis, the schools are going to bear the brunt of budget shortfalls yet again.
- Grants are not available to cover operating costs – only extras.
- Pacifica already runs a very lean operation. Almost all of our regular budget is for teaching staff, facility rent and professional development for our teachers.
- Every family is asked directly to make a contribution, and grandparents are encouraged to help support our mission, too.
- Pacifica greatly accepts donations from sources other than our families.
- 100% of your donation pays for operating costs and programs that directly benefit our children right here at Pacifica – none of your donation goes to the school district.
