Application Process

Tours are mandatory prior to submitting an application for enrollment at Pacifica.  Pacifica offers a unique, innovative educational model especially designed to grow lifelong learners, but its philosophies and parent participation requirements might not be a fit for all families.  Take a tour and see our mission in action.

Applications for enrollment are only available during tours.

All applications to Pacifica will be received on a first-come, first-served basis. We will not discriminate on the basis of ethnicity, religion, gender or national origin. Students will be enrolled in the appropriate grade level with the following priority:

  1. Students currently enrolled
  2. Founders’ children
  3. Children of Pacifica staff
  4. Current Independent Study Program students
  5. Siblings of current students
  6. LAUSD zone applicants
  7. Other area applicants

If the number of applicants exceeds the number of classroom seats available, students will be chosen by public lottery and subsequently wait-listed by order of the lottery draw.

New applicants will receive notification of acceptance to Pacifica or waiting list status by U.S. mail. When a student is accepted from the waiting list, they will be notified by phone and/or U.S. mail.

Pacifica’s public lottery for the 2009/10 school year will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2009.

Applications for the 2009/10 school year are due no later than 11:00 am on Friday, February 27, 2009.

Mid-year applications will be considered on a space-available basis, with lotteries held on the Monday following any tour.  Applications for mid-year placement are due no later than 11:00 am on the Friday preceding the applicable lottery.  For more information on space availability for mid-year placement, please contact us.
