Recent quote by a high school teacher about a 2007 graduate of Pacifica:
“He is such a dedicated young man! The only one of my students to take the time (three times, now) to come in to discuss his progress with me. Seems like he has a history of being very active about his own learning. Congratulations on this.”

People often ask where our students go after Pacifica. So, in no particular order (and this is certainly not an exhaustive list), our graduates have gone to the following high schools:
Concord
New Roads
Vista Mar
Hamilton
Venice
Santa Monica
Culver
El Segundo
Fairfax
Marshal
Mira Costa
LACES (Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies-an LAUSD magnet)
Palisades
Many Pacifica graduates are thriving in their high schools because they possess a zest for learning and are ready to face new challenges at a high school level. Parents of these grads attribute some of this success to their children’s experience at Pacifica.

An Update from a 2006 Graduate…
Salutations Pacificans:
I can’t believe how quickly time has flown. Since my graduation [in 2006] I’ve been very, very, very busy with academic pursuits at my high school, Vistamar (www.vistamarschool.org), veganizing my life, and working with an environmental group called the Green Ambassadors (www.greenambassadors.org) who started a biodiesel branch. The teacher who started it is a member of the biodiesel co-op that I belong to, so I was asked if I wanted to help start it. Being a biodiesel nut, I said, “Yes.”
The same teacher also got me involved in another Green Ambassadors group called The Conservation Green Ambassadors. In April, we are going on a trip to the Pantanal in Brazil to help study the river otters whose habitat is being destroyed by the cattle industry. If you would like more information on the above, feel free to e-mail me at capinetree@yahoo.com.
Lettuce have whirled peas,
Alex Pine

Pacifica Alumni Shine at Concord High School
Concord High School, located in Santa Monica, is home to several Pacifica graduates. For several years running, Lenore Berry and Toli Paine earned the designation of AP (Advanced Placement) Scholar with Distinction by the College Board. Joining them in 2007 is another Pacifica alum, Stephan Beeman. The AP Scholar program offers students the opportunity to take challenging college-level courses while still in high school, and to receive college credit, advanced placement, or both, for successful performance on the AP Exams.
Additionally, Toli was a 2007 Semifinalist in the 52nd annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Lenore was named a Commended Student by the same program. Also in Concord’s news was Morrel St. Amant-Guerrero, who was among five students who received an Education award at the 31st Annual Santa Monica Gems on February 18, 2007. This event highlights “outstanding achievement by black students and community members in Santa Monica.”
Congratulations to Lenore, Morrel, Stephan and Toli for their accomplishments!
